Summary:
Singapore’s drive for productivity has focused attention on a key component to boosting organisational performance which is innovation. many companies have put up barriers to innovation. These barriers are not confined to Asian or Singapore companies. In the Singapore context, the aversion to and fear of failure could be another barrier to innovation. Singapore’s emphasis on meritocracy and strict adherence to promotion based on merit translates into a workforce that, while it conforms and performs to the best of its abilities, will not take on unnecessary risks.
Opinion:
I thunk that Singapore should try to take more risks to invent new things. These barriers should not be stopping them from doing this. Singapore should overcome the fear or failure. Everything needs failure before they succeed. The soil in Singapore is fertile for creativity in my opinion. Singapore is a clean country.
